The John H. Landsiedel V Aviation Scholarship Program funds essential flight training for wildlife professionals in their pursuits of becoming pilot biologists. Empowering more Alaska wildlife professionals to pursue aviation will lead to an increased ability to perform essential population surveys, and monitoring efforts, as well as contributing to research projects annually. Eligible individuals for scholarships are as follows:
- Currently working in the wildlife conservation field actively managing or researching wildlife populations in Alaska or working towards a degree in wildlife conservation and management.
- Priority will be given to tenured Alaska Department of Fish and Game staff with intentions of staying with the Department and contributing to wildlife conservation efforts in the future
- Priority will be given to current Alaska Wild Sheep Foundation members who meet all the above criteria
- Priority will be given to wildlife professionals working with Dall sheep, mountain goats, and muskox (but is not required)
- Must be currently domiciled in Alaska and plan to remain in state
